Toronto Private City Tour

City landmarks, distinctive neighbourhoods and waterfront views.

Listed price $799Listed tour price

Overview

This tour suits a first visit, or anyone who wants the main sights of Toronto in one outing without working out the transit map. We collect you from your downtown hotel and drive a route that strings together old and new Toronto: the university and legislature grounds at Queen’s Park, the hilltop castle at Casa Loma, Yorkville’s shopping streets, the two city halls on Queen Street, St. Lawrence Market, Chinatown and Kensington, the Distillery District and the lakefront by the CN Tower.

It is a sightseeing tour, so most landmarks are seen from the outside, with short stops where time and parking allow. Casa Loma and the CN Tower are on the route as places to see, not as included admissions. If you want to go inside either one, tell us when you send your request and we will tell you what is possible.

11 stops, in order

Itinerary

Traffic, parking and opening hours can shift timings on the day. Every stop below stays in the plan.

  1. Stop 1 of 11

    Downtown Toronto hotel pickup

We collect your group from your downtown hotel. Give us the hotel name when you book so we can set the start time.

  2. Stop 2 of 11

Queen's Park and University of Toronto

Seen from the vehicle and on foot where possible

The pink sandstone Ontario Legislative Building sits at the head of University Avenue, with the University of Toronto’s St. George campus wrapped around it. Romanesque stonework, old trees and quiet quads give you a first feel for the city.

  3. Stop 3 of 11

    Casa Loma

Seen from outside, entry not included

Toronto’s castle, built between 1911 and 1914 for financier Sir Henry Pellatt, stands on the ridge above Davenport Road. We stop for the towers and the view; going inside is a separate ticket and is not part of the listed price.

  4. Stop 4 of 11

    Yorkville

    Drive-through

Once a separate village, Yorkville is now the city’s upscale shopping and gallery district, where Victorian houses along Yorkville Avenue and Cumberland Street have become boutiques and cafés.

  5. Stop 5 of 11

Old City Hall and New City Hall

    Photo stop

Two city halls a few steps apart on Queen Street West: the 1899 Romanesque Old City Hall with its clock tower, and the curved twin towers of the 1965 New City Hall above Nathan Phillips Square.

  6. Stop 6 of 11

    St. Lawrence Market

Short stop when the market is open

The market hall on Front Street East has been trading in one form or another since 1803. When it is open during your tour, it is a good place for a coffee or a peameal bacon sandwich. Food and drinks are not part of the listed price.

  7. Stop 7 of 11

    Chinatown and Kensington Market

    Neighbourhood drive

Spadina Avenue’s Chinatown runs straight into Kensington Market, a few blocks of vintage shops, grocers, cafés and street art that grew out of the city’s immigrant neighbourhoods.

  8. Stop 8 of 11

    Distillery Historic District

    Short walk

The Victorian brick buildings of the old Gooderham & Worts distillery are now car-free lanes of galleries, cafés and shops. It is one of the best places on the route to get out and walk for a few minutes.

  9. Stop 9 of 11

    CN Tower and waterfront

Seen from outside, tower tickets not included

The 553-metre CN Tower and the Harbourfront on Lake Ontario. We stop for photos near the base and by the water; the tower’s observation levels need their own ticket.

  10. Stop 10 of 11

    Forest Hill drive-through

    Drive-through

A slow drive through one of Toronto’s leafiest residential neighbourhoods, with large early 20th-century houses on tree-lined streets.

  11. Stop 11 of 11

    Hotel drop-off

We finish back at your downtown hotel.
